ARTIST STATEMENT
I’ve always wanted my thoughts to immediately write themselves down on paper the second after I think them. Recording personal thoughts, conversations, and experiences is something that I've been doing for as long as I can remember and it has become the foundation of my art. My work translates these personal moments of my life into public displays for people to experience. I am a very open person so displaying private thoughts in public places gives me a sense of freedom.
Elaborating on specific moments, thoughts, ideas, and emotions makes me feel like I am truly experiencing the world around me. My main medium for the past eleven years has been embroidery floss. My biggest fear in life is that I might forget an important conversation or the way an experience felt or the clarity of an epiphany, so I like the idea of literally pinning down my thoughts or tethering them to a space. The knotting, weaving, and winding of string has become a type of meditation for me. Each piece is tedious and time consuming showing how much effort I give to a single thought.

ABOUT ME
I am a graduate of the University of Toledo and have my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in printmaking and drawing. Although printmaking was my concentration in school, I have primarily been doing installation work for the last eleven years. My day job is being the art director of a retail brand in Toledo, Ohio and I draw dog portraits as a side gig!
